Meet Kim Gordon, HSSE Manager on Perdaman’s Project Ceres on the Burrup Peninsula, Western Australia!

Kim has extensive experience managing health and safety on Australian mega projects and a deep understanding of the Pilbara region, his homeland and the launchpad of his professional journey. His commitment to the health and safety of his team, community, and environment makes him an invaluable asset to the project and to all those involved.

I've been in the industry for over 30 years. I worked on numerous mega projects in Darwin and on the Burrup, where I started my career 30-odd years ago. It's like coming home. All my family lives in Karratha".

Project Ceres is a mega project, four years in length, very high profile, and working for Clough, a tier-one company".

“There’s a great senior management team in place here in Perth, and I also look after fabrication yards in Chennai. We’re spread across the world as we fabricate and bring all the components to the Burrup to assemble the plant".

“We work extensively with the Indigenous community. We try to employ locals, get a large portion of the workforce here, spend money in town with local suppliers, and so on to set up contracts with them and the local workforce".

“To those considering joining the project, come onboard; it's an opportunity to experience the Pilbara. It's a beautiful town. It's well-resourced. You're not on a remote mine site or things like that. We're in a well-established community with all of the resources, restaurants and other activities to do".

“As a graduate, trainee, or even apprentice, you have the opportunity to potentially complete your apprenticeship on this project. It's an opportunity to learn. It’s a unique project in scale and size through structural, mechanical piping, electrical instrumentation. There are many opportunities to learn and see how a major project is assembled”.
