Meet the Team
Meet Shay D’Anvers, Training & Induction Coordinator for Webuild!
Passionate about safety and working in the dynamic construction field, Shay joined the North East Link Project in Melbourne in 2022.
“I started my career in construction at the age of 19, and what I love most about the industry is its dynamic nature, the constant changes, and the daily challenges that captivate me. Working in construction offers a variety of opportunities every day that I feel I would not get to experience in a more traditional workplace, and I fell in love with the industry.
“My journey with Webuild began in July 2022 when I joined the training team, taking on the coordination of the Primary and Tunnelling Inductions for the Spark North East Link (NEL) Project. It is my first time working with Webuild, and the excitement of this new venture has been invigorating.
“Throughout my career, I've worked in various industries, from Registered Training Organisations to Oil, Gas, and Construction projects, including the construction of an LNG plant. My roles have spanned Training Admin & Coordinator, Project Induction Admin & Coordinator, to Commissioning & Start Up Admin. Working across these industries and in different roles has given me so much experience to bring to the NEL project in my position.
“Based at the Induction Center, my role involves coordinating and managing day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth and successful running of the project induction for all our Spark permanent and subcontractor employees.
“I find that every day on the Spark NEL Project brings a new adventure. One of the things that I love most is meeting new people daily. Also, the support I receive from an incredibly safety-driven team is empowering, and watching my first-ever tunnel build take form day-by-day is awe-inspiring.
“Within my role, I am passionate about business initiatives that prioritise safety, and my goal is ensuring that every worker goes home safely. It might sound cliché, but it's a cause close to my heart, driven by the unimaginable thought of loved ones not coming home.
“As part of Webuild's expansive and ever-growing profile, I see a future where I won't be confined to one type of work. The prospect of experiencing different construction builds, potentially around the world, fuels my excitement for what lies ahead in my career.”
About the North East Link Project
Webuild, as part of the Spark Consortium is delivering the in Melbourne. The project scope includes the design and construction of twin three-lane tunnels approximately 6.5 kilometres long, and other related works. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria, providing an essential link in the city’s freeway network, reducing congestion and travel times for tens of thousands of motorists. The project will enable a more sustainable future by taking 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reducing trave times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. The consortium will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the freeway for 25 years after completion of the work.
