Milan, 20 December 2024 – The Webuild Group continues to build a stronger and more diversified presence in Australia, bringing its international expertise to the healthcare sector. The Group, in joint venture, is the preferred respondent for the design and construction of the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, and has signed a Letter of Intent to move to the final stage of negotiations. The project's value is ~AUD 1.8 billion (€1.1 billion). Webuild has a 70% stake and Australian firm Roberts Co., holds the remaining 30%.

Commissioned by the Western Australian Government, the landmark project aims to replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital and expand services and choice for women, newborns and families in Western Australia.

The Women and Babies Hospital will be built within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct in the southern suburb of Murdoch. The project also includes a major expansion of Osborne Park Hospital, located in the northern suburb of Stirling, and expansion of neonatal services at Perth’s Children’s Hospital. During construction, the project is planned to create over 1,400 jobs and encourage opportunities for Aboriginal and Female workers.

The Webuild Group brings to this project expertise that includes the design and construction of around 200 healthcare facilities worldwide, including some of the most innovative and cutting-edge centres in the healthcare construction sector, both in Italy and abroad. Notable examples include the New Hospital in Venice Mestre, a state-of-the-art facility that remains one of the most beautiful hospitals in Europe, and the Four Hospitals in Tuscany.

With the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Webuild and its Australian subsidiary Clough are strengthening their presence in Australia, the Group's second-largest market outside of its home country. In November, the Group also secured n AUD 1.7 billion contract for the Tunnels North section of the Suburban Rail Loop East in Melbourne, a new metro line that will enhance the city's sustainable mobility system.

In Perth, the Group has already completed the Airport Line (formerly known as the Forrestfield-Airport Link), an 8.5-kilometre rail line connecting the city centre to the eastern suburbs. It is also currently involved in a project to enhance the sludge management process at the state's largest wastewater treatment plant. In the northern Pilbara region of Western Australia, Webuild is constructing one of the world's largest urea plants for fertilizer production, along with the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility. This strategic infrastructure project will strengthen the port of Dampier.

The Group is also constructing the tunnels of Melbourne's Northeast Link, a key section of the city's motorway network. Meanwhile, in Sydney, Webuild is involved in developing the Sydney Metro, which will connect the city to the Western Sydney International Airport, the largest Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project in New South Wales. Additionally, Webuild and Clough are working on Snowy 2.0 in the same state, the largest renewable energy production project under construction in the country.
